**Role Overview**:
This is an exciting opportunity to join UnitingSA's Marketing, Communications and Partnerships team as the Media and Communications Lead. This essential role will have the unique opportunity to provide strategic advice and shape the narrative for media and communications at UnitingSA.
You will be responsible for driving strategic communications plans to support business objectives and amplify our important work across aged care, community services and housing.
On any given day you could be pitching a good news story to the media, developing a communications plan for a major project or preparing a speech for a major event.
You are a storyteller and wordsmith at heart and highly skilled at creating compelling content to strategically drive impact and influence key stakeholders, including media, government, sector and community.
We're looking for an experienced and dynamic operator who can hit the ground running, combining their expertise, strong stakeholder management skills and passion for the not-for-profit sector to deliver great outcomes for our community and organisation.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Lead a coordinated approach to the delivery of UnitingSA's external communications to ensure high-quality content and high-impact outcomes, including publications, digital and print assets
- In consultation with managers, project leaders and Executive team members, develop, implement and measure communications plans to support projects, services and programs
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with media outlets, government, sector partners and key internal and external stakeholders
- Identify proactive media opportunities, pitch media releases and coordinate coverage, including prepping case studies and spokesperson
- Support the planning and delivery of events and media announcements, including the development of speech notes, presentations and correspondence
**Skills & Experience**:
- Minimum 5+ years in a similar position
- Experience working in media and communications within a large organisation
- Extensive communications and media strategy experience, including campaign and tactical development and delivery
- Experience working with CEO and Executive Management teams
- Experience engaging audiences through mainstream media, and social and digital platforms
- Experience developing and maintaining effective media and government networks
- Experience in producing high-quality documents and publications, such as newsletters, magazines and newspapers
- Exceptional research skills, and naturally, strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal and listening skills with the ability to make sound, practical, logical, and balanced judgments
- High-level strategic skills and influencing capabilities
- Highly motivated, self-directed, and committed to teamwork
