Our client, a national peak body representing community-controlled health organisations, is seeking a dedicated Communications Officer to join their team in Canberra. This role focuses on promoting aged care and mental health programs aimed at improving awareness and capacity within communities.
As Communications Officer, you will develop and implement effective communication strategies and campaigns that resonate with diverse audiences and support the organisation’s mission of delivering high-quality health care. Working closely with the Aged Care and Mental Health Program teams, you will create tailored messaging, coordinate media engagement, and produce informative content including newsletters and annual reports.
Responsibilities include:
* reviewing and executing communication plans,
* managing marketing initiatives, upholding inclusive and culturally safe communication practices, and building productive relationships with health services, media entities, and other stakeholders.
* provide analytics and reporting to senior executives and collaborate within the communications team to align all outreach with the organisation's brand and policies.
The ideal candidate:
* tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in communications, journalism, public relations, or related fields.
* Experience working across diverse communities and familiarity with design and social media management tools are highly desirable.
* strong written and interpersonal communication, strategic thinking, project management, and media liaison capabilities.
This is a full-time, 12-month contract position. Due to the nature of the opportunity this role requires the successful candidate to be in the office 5 days a week and with occasional travel across Australia.
