Join Our Orthopaedic Team as a Plaster Technician in Princess Alexandra Hospital.

Play a vital hands-on role supporting orthopaedic patients across outpatient and inpatient services at Princess Alexandra Hospital. Work alongside a multidisciplinary team delivering safe, compassionate, person-centred care.

Your new role:

As a Plaster Technician / Allied Health Assistant, you will supervise and coordinate the plaster service for orthopaedic patients within the Orthopaedic Outpatient Department and inpatient units at Princess Alexandra Hospital. Working under the direction of the multidisciplinary team, you'll provide high-quality clinical and administrative support while contributing to a safe, professional, and compassionate patient experience.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys practical clinical work, thrives in a team environment, and understands the importance of working within scope while delivering excellent patient care.

Key responsibilities

* Apply and remove casts safely, with a strong understanding of orthopaedic anatomy and risks
* Assist in specialised clinical screening and treatment programs as delegated
* Provide clear education to patients and carers on defined topics
* Maintain accurate patient records in line with legal and organisational requirements
About you:

You're a skilled and reliable Allied Health Assistant or Plaster Technician who values teamwork, patient safety, and respectful care. You understand your scope of practice, communicate clearly with patients and colleagues, and take pride in delivering high-quality clinical support in a fast-paced orthopaedic setting.

Skills & experience

* Demonstrated experience applying and removing casts safely
* Strong knowledge of anatomy relevant to orthopaedics
* Ability to recognise changes in patient condition and escalate appropriately
* Strong time management and ability to prioritise workload

2L Orthopaedic Outpatients is a specialised, tertiary referral service Orthopaedic and Trauma Outpatient unit at the Princess Alexandra Hospital. Our service is committed to providing high quality, patient focused care of patients with complex Trauma, Orthopaedic Oncology, Joint Arthroplasty, Spine, Hand, Pelvis, Upper Limb, Lower Limb, and general Orthopaedic needs. Our aim is to improve patient access to Orthopaedic services, reduce waiting times and provide a high standard of specialised care while delivering exceptional patient focused outcomes within a multidisciplinary team and a cost-efficient service
