**The Opportunity**
A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen for a **Process Safety Superintendent** to join our team Reporting to the Safety & Quality Manager, you will play a crucial role in contributing to the overall success of the company by supporting the development and implementation of Process Safety Systems and guidelines, which define and reflect WesCEF expectations and address specific issues associated with Major Hazardous Facilities and Dangerous Goods operations.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Demonstrate the effective management of major accident hazard identification and risk assessment and risk control processes.
- Responsible for recommending control strategies for identified process safety hazards and to improve systems so as to provide 'demonstration of adequacy' to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Lead and monitor process safety incident investigations, reporting and implementation of recommendations to establish cause and improve process safety performance.
- Define, communicate, monitor, and manage delivery of Process Safety objectives, targets, and KPI's.
- Monitor, evaluate and identify process safety management issues / risks within WesCEF and develop plans to improve process safety and legislative compliance.
**About You**:
- You have a passion for improving safety risk management in complex chemical processing plants and a proven ability to engage and motivate others to contribute.
- You hold a tertiary qualification in engineering (chemical, or instrumentation and control preferred, but mechanical considered).
- Experience working in chemical processing environments is essential, and demonstrable experience in a similar role is required.
- Direct experience with the regulatory requirements for MHFs, Dangerous Goods, gas safety and rail safety.
- Considerable knowledge, understanding and experience with Safety Management System development and implementation.
- Significant success and experience in building and maintaining positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory authorities and industry networks.
- Sound understanding of process safety management systems, industry practices, and emerging technologies.
**Given the nature of the position and within reason, the successful incumbent may be required to be contactable outside of business hours.**
