What is the role?
Within the Australian Federal Police, you can find the National Operations State Service Centre (NOSSC) under the Specialist Protective Command.
Currently NOSSC is seeking applicants for various roles within its remit. We have positions available in the following areas:
NOSSC - Canberra; and
Watchfloor Operations
The NOSSC team provides a flexible work life balance through rostering shifts include days, afternoons, nights, weekends, and in some cases public holidays. While you may work nights, evenings and public holidays, you will receive generous remuneration as outlined in the Australian Federal Police Enterprise Agreement 2017 - 2020.
You will also be required to contribute to the achievement of outcomes in accordance with the regulatory framework, the AFP Code of Conduct and the AFP Governance Instruments. It is expected that the successful applicant will deliver on the core responsibilities and meet any requirements of the position as outlined below.
What will you do?
NOSSC - CANBERRA
The NOSSC Canberra team processes requests and reports received by various stakeholders through systems on the AFP website and other forms of correspondence. The Team Member will triage and use good judgement in executing multiple duties. This role involves active engagement with our internal and external partners.
NOSSC WATCHFLOOR
The NOSSC Watchfloor is a 24/7-hour, single point of contact for all AFP's stakeholders. The team provides critical communications and situational awareness to AFP members nationally and internationally through the various communications tools such as radios and Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD).
The key responsibilities for NOSSC Canberra and NOSSC Watchfloor are, and not limited to:
Liaise and develop effective working relationships with range of internal and external stakeholders including foreign law enforcement agencies, Australian Government departments, State and Territory Police and Emergency Services, and Event Organisers.
Assists recording, monitoring and reporting on operational matters utilising AFP systems.
Respond to general inquiries from public members, AFP members, and government agencies.
Exercises good judgement, integrity and discretion when dealing with confidential and sensitive matters.
Essential Requirements
You must be an Australian Citizen.
Must be 18 years old and over.
A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
Successfully complete AFP Organisational Health Assessment.
As part of this recruitment process, you will be required to successfully complete an AFP Organisational Health Assessment. This comprises of a hearing and psychological assessment. Any offer of employment will be conditional on these results.
