We're working with a leading consultancy specialising in large scale electrical infrastructure projects. They provide end-to-end engineering solutions across Australia, delivering technically robust designs for utilities, renewable developers, and major projects.
The Role
You will lead and coordinate engineering design activities for HV (high voltage) transmission projects across Australia for various client partners. This role is responsible for managing multidisciplinary design teams, ensuring compliance with standards, driving innovation in technical solutions, and delivering projects on time and within budget.
You will work closely with clients, contractors, and internal teams, providing technical leadership and strategic oversight to ensure projects meet all quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
* Lead and manage the design team for client-partner large-scale transmission line projects, ensuring high-quality and compliant engineering outputs.
* Oversee the development of innovative design solutions to address complex technical challenges.
* Review and approve key engineering deliverables, including PLS design outputs, drawings, and technical reports.
* Ensure integration across electrical, civil, structural, and mechanical disciplines where applicable.
* Mentor and provide guidance to design engineers to build team capability.
Project Management & Delivery
* Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure timely delivery of engineering designs.
* Coordinate with clients, utilities, contractors, and internal teams to manage interfaces and approvals.
* Identify project risks and develop contingency plans to mitigate technical and schedule issues.
* Support construction and commissioning teams by providing technical clarifications and design support.
Compliance & Standards
* Ensure designs comply with Australian and International codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
* Conduct risk and contingency assessments to ensure robust design solutions.
* Contribute to the continuous improvement of internal design procedures, standards, and templates.
Qualifications & Experience Education
* Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or relevant degree.
Experience
* Minimum 8-10 years' experience in engineering design and project management within transmission lines or the broader power sector.
* Proficient in PLS software for transmission design
* Demonstrated experience in leading multidisciplinary design teams.
Technical Skills
* Competent understanding of Australian and International engineering codes and standards.
* Skilled in MS Office suite, MS PowerPoint, and MS Project.
* Strong capability in developing innovative solutions to technical challenges.
