We are seeking a vibrant, committed and compassionate retail sales assistant to join our teams at both the Devonport and East Devonport stores. This role is offered as part-time, three days per week.
The Sales Assistant works within Vinnie's retail network, selling pre-loved clothing, furniture and other goods to the public with a strong focus on sustainability. Working closely with a team of volunteers and staff, the Sales Assistant contributes to all aspects of the store and its operations.
Requiring well developed customer service skills and sound knowledge of retail or pre-loved goods or the ability and willingness to obtain while demonstrating Society values.
Essential Requirements
* Previous experience in a retail setting, preferably not for profit
* Demonstrated and effective computer literacy skills
* Effective written, oral communication and interpersonal skills, including effectively communicating with stakeholders from a diverse range of backgrounds and groups
* Effective time management and organisation skills
* Knowledge of Child Safety and Work, Health and Safety principles and how to apply these
* Capacity to think innovatively around emerging opportunities, working effectively with others as part of a team to pursue these
* Effective use of initiative and judgement to proactively suggest solutions to matters, communicating effectively to motivate and build capacity
* Proven ability to assess needs, plan, develop, coordinate, monitor and evaluate
* Demonstrated ability to adapt to changes in work priorities, styles and environment
* Demonstrate a friendly, positive attitude, a willingness to learn, and a vibrant enthusiastic personality
* Understanding of and commitment to the philosophy of the St Vincent de Paul Society and an ability to work in accordance with policies and procedures to promote the values and mission of the Society
The successful applicant must hold a current compliant National Police Check, along with a valid Working with Vulnerable People Card or the ability to obtain.
