It is a pioneering facility comprising sub-sea wells tied back to a Floating Liquefied Natural Gas (FLNG) unit, which handles gas processing, liquefaction, LNG/LPG/Condensate storage, and offloading, supported by marine and utilities facilities.
The Senior Control Systems Engineer is a key member supporting the Prelude FLNG Asset.
This role involves control systems engineering operations support, developing strong stakeholder relationships, ensuring engineering assurance, and supporting technical skill development.
You will work with reliability, integrity assurance, safety-critical and production-critical tasks, and documentation processes to meet Shell Australia's business targets.
The role requires participation in risk assessments, preparation of technical datasheets, reports, and specifications, and collaboration with production and maintenance teams.
What you'll be doing Based primarily in Perth with occasional site visits, responsibilities include: Commitment to health, safety, and environmental protection.
Promoting safe work practices and safety meetings.
Developing and maintaining programs for high reliability of Process Automation and Safety Instrumented Systems.
Implementing proactive technical monitoring processes.
Identifying cost reduction and defect elimination opportunities.
Managing lifecycle processes for automation and safety systems.
Supporting spare parts management and procurement.
Developing plant changes for safety, reliability, and cost efficiency.
Ensuring SIS changes align with functional safety standards (AS 61511).
Managing overrides and brownfield design reviews.
Providing technical advice to operations and maintenance teams.
Troubleshooting failures and conducting root cause analysis.
Supporting major turnaround work scopes.
Maintaining documentation and cybersecurity of systems.
Acting as Contract Holder for vendor maintenance contracts.
What you bring Relevant skills, qualifications, and experience in the petroleum, gas, and energy sectors, including: Tertiary qualifications in Engineering.
Experience as a Senior Control Systems Engineer on an operated Oil & Gas asset.
Proficiency with Process Automation and Safety Instrumented Systems, interfaces, and protocols.
Ability to quickly identify and engineer solutions with a hands-on approach.
