About Central Gippsland Health
Central Gippsland Health (CGH) is a sub‐regional health service and the major provider of health and aged care services in the Wellington Shire. CGH is located in the City of Sale which is 215 km east of Melbourne. The City of Sale is an ideal access point for the magnificent Gippsland Lakes, 90‐mile beach and the Victorian Alps.
CGH provides acute care as part of an integrated service delivery model across Wellington Shire and beyond. The service provides beds across three campuses (Sale, Maffra and Heyfield). Acute services include a full‐time emergency department, critical care unit, neonatal critical care unit, three operating theatres, day procedure unit, oncology and dialysis services in addition to general medical and services and sub‐acute services including rehabilitation.
CGH is also a leading teaching hospital, affiliated with Monash University's School of Rural Health and provides placements and clinical experience for students.

The CGH Operating Theatre Department delivers safe, efficient, and high‐quality surgical care across elective and emergency procedures. Theatre Technicians play a central role in ensuring each operating session runs smoothly by supporting the surgical, anaesthetic, and nursing teams with technical expertise, equipment management, and patient‐care assistance.
About the Role
Are you an experienced Theatre Technician looking for your next challenge?
Theatre Technicians in the operating room play a critical role in supporting surgical teams by ensuring the operating theatre is set up, maintained, and equipped to the highest standard. The technician is responsible for managing the technical aspects of surgical procedures, maintaining equipment, ensuring the theatre environment is sterile, and assisting with patient positioning and preparation as needed.
Duties
* Prepare the operating room for surgery, including the setup of non‐sterile equipment.
* Adhering to strict infection control protocols.
* Set up, operate and maintain medical equipment during surgical procedures.
* Troubleshoot and resolve equipment malfunctions promptly.
* Ensure all technical and safety checks are completed before use of equipment, including electrical and mechanical devices.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
* Cert III or IV in Health Services Assistance Specialisation operating room technician.
* Minimum 1 year as a Theatre Technician working in Australia or equivalent overseas.
* Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
