Job Highlights

As an Environmental Safety & Health (ESH) Advisor, you'll support the F-35 Program and other key Defence projects by delivering expert guidance across all ESH activities. You'll lead hazard and risk management, drive audit and inspection programs, and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and internal systems. Your advice will help our program teams operate safely, sustainably, and in line with Defence and organisational requirements.

Your responsibilities will include :

* Provide high-level ESH advice and guidance to stakeholders across the business.
* Evaluate environmental and WHS hazards and provide specialist SME recommendations.
* Manage communications with regulatory agencies and program offices to support compliance and reporting.
* Assess new WHS legislation and policy changes, advising on impacts to programs and broader operations.
* Collaborate with Defence on Hazardous Chemical Register (ChemAlert) stock management and risk management processes.
* Coordinate, conduct and support risk management activities across multiple sites to ensure consistent, compliant practices.
* Conduct site, system and project audits and inspections to maintain high ESH standards.
* Ensure compliance with worker safety requirements through proactive facilitation of the WHS / ESH Committee and maintaining accurate, up-to-date content within the ESH Management System.
* Coordinate and maintain permits, ensuring correct execution of customer, site and program-specific ESH requirements.
* Analyse ESH data and prepare status reports, providing timely, accurate reporting of issues, risks and dependencies in line with regulatory and legal obligations.
* Plan, coordinate and manage activities to ensure compliance with the Environment, Safety & Health management system and all applicable legislation.


About you :

* Defence Aviation Safety management experience.
* Relevant tertiary qualification(s) in Environmental and / or Work Health Safety management.
* Proven experience in a similar role, partnering with management to implement practical, effective, and streamlined ESH management systems.
* Demonstrated ability to implement ESH Management System changes across multiple sites and programs within medium to large organisations.
* Experience driving positive workplace culture change, improving safety awareness and occupational health behaviours.
* Strong track record in conducting ESH investigations and preparing reports with actionable recommendations for senior management.
* Significant experience in designing, delivering, and evaluating risk assessments, safety audits, and compliance programs.


Special Requirements :

Applicants must be eligible to obtain and maintain an Australian Defence Security Clearance and employment may be contingent on the provision of further personal information including citizenship to ensure compliance with international export control legislation and regulations.
