About the Role
The senior mechanical design engineer will drive design and technical delivery of bespoke automation solutions from concept to fully functional solutions alongside a team of engineers, designers, and project managers.
Key Responsibilities
1. Develop and execute bespoke designs from concept to detailed designs, ensuring seamless execution.
2. Create comprehensive manufacturing drawings, including General Assemblies and Bill of Materials, with precision and accuracy.
3. Provide expert technical guidance in designing new machines and systems, leveraging industry knowledge and experience.
4. Support commissioning and validation teams for new and existing equipment, ensuring smooth integration.
5. Engage in prototyping and research & development activities to stay ahead of industry trends and advancements.
6. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver high-quality results and meet project objectives.
7. Prepare and maintain accurate and up-to-date technical documentation, adhering to industry standards.
8. Exercise control over project costs and ensure that designed equipment is fit-for-purpose, meeting customer requirements.
About You
1. Possess at least 10+ years of experience in Mechanical Design, CAD or Project Engineering, with a proven track record of success.
2. Demonstrate proficiency in SolidWorks and SolidWorks PDM, with ability to adapt to new technologies and software.
3. Exhibit strong communication, interpersonal, and technical writing skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex ideas.
4. Showcase ability to manage projects technically from design through to build phase, ensuring timely completion and high-quality results.
5. Display sound knowledge of AS4024 Safety and Engineering Standards, with commitment to safety protocols and regulations.
6. Demonstrate hands-on problem-solving skills, with excellent attention to detail and a team player attitude.

Job Details
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: Up to $140,000 + Superannuation
Location: SE Melbourne, VIC
