About the role
A Bricklayer is responsible for laying bricks, concrete blocks, stone, and other types of building materials to construct or repair walls, partitions, arches, and other structures. The role involves reading and interpreting plans, measuring and cutting materials to size, mixing and applying mortar, and ensuring all work is level, aligned, and completed to industry standards.
The Bricklayer's Labourer is responsible for assisting qualified bricklayers by preparing materials, maintaining a clean and safe worksite, and performing manual labour tasks to ensure bricklaying projects are completed efficiently and to a high standard.
Bricklayers - Key Responsibilities:
* Lay bricks, blocks, and stone in accordance with construction plans.
* Mix and apply mortar or other bonding agents.
* Measure, cut, and shape materials as required.
* Repair and maintain existing brickwork and masonry structures.
* Ensure work is accurate, safe, and meets building codes and quality standards.
Skills & Requirements:
* Experience in bricklaying and masonry work.
* Ability to read and interpret construction drawings.
* Strong attention to detail and precision.
* Physical fitness and ability to perform manual labour.
* Knowledge of workplace health and safety practices.
Labourers - Key Responsibilities
* Mix mortar and carry bricks, blocks, and other materials to bricklayers.
* Prepare and set up work areas, including scaffolding, tools, and equipment.
* Load and unload materials and keep supplies stocked on site.
* Cut bricks or blocks to size as directed.
* Maintain a clean, safe, and organised worksite.
* Assist in laying bricks and blocks under supervision when required.
* Follow all workplace health and safety requirements.
* Support the bricklaying team with general labouring duties as directed.
Skills & Requirements
* Previous experience in construction or (preferred but not essential) bricklaying
* Physically fit and able to perform manual labour or bricklaying.
* Knowledge of basic hand tools and construction site practices.
* Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
* Commitment to safe work practices.
* White Card (Construction Induction) – mandatory.
* Driver's licence and reliable transport.
