RediCommunities is an Australian Red Cross facilitated program that empowers high hazard risk communities to develop and implement their own disaster resilience action plans and implement high-impact initiatives.
About the role
The Senior Officer – Resilience will lead a team of Resilience Officers delivering RediCommunities in communities across NSW and is responsible for the coordination of overall program delivery, monitoring and evaluation and financial monitoring of program delivery.
This role is responsible for overseeing the delivery of targeted support to individuals, households, and communities to ensure they are strong, resilient, and capable of anticipating, responding to, and recovering well from heatwaves. The Senior Officer both delivers services directly and oversees staff and volunteer workforce to achieve service outcomes.
This role also works at a state or territory sector level, with guidance from the national program lead, to increase knowledge and understanding of climate-related disaster impacts, the importance of preparedness and resilience measures. This role will lead, coach and manage diverse staff and volunteers to effectively deliver and evaluate targeted heatwave resilience programs in the community.
What you will bring
* Demonstrated experience in providing professional supervision and direction to staff engaged in emergency services delivery
* Sound technical knowledge, expertise and understanding of disaster resilience, climate change and/or community development principles
* Excellent advocacy and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders
* Sound analytical skills and demonstrated ability to assess, evaluate and solve problems and exercise initiative and judgment, and the ability to use data to inform practice
* Proven ability to develop and deliver training, workshops, and resources
* Ability to set priorities, plan and organise their own work and that of other staff as required
* A demonstrated authentic commitment to engaging, directing, supporting, retaining and acknowledging volunteer workforces
