We are seeking a passionate Commis Chef to join our dynamic team at an exciting restaurant in the heart of Newcastle. As a Commis Chef, you will play a vital role in our kitchen team, supporting the chefs in the preparation and presentation of high-quality dishes. This entry-level position is ideal for culinary enthusiasts looking to gain hands-on experience in a professional kitchen environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Food Preparation: Assist in the preparation of ingredients and cooking processes for menu items as directed by the Sous Chef or Head Chef.
* Cooking: Learn and execute basic cooking techniques, including grilling, frying, and baking under supervision.
* Station Maintenance: Maintain cleanliness and organization of your assigned station, ensuring all equipment and utensils are cleaned and stored properly.
* Inventory Management: Assist in the stock control process by checking inventory levels and notifying supervisors of low supplies.
* Recipe Adherence: Follow recipes and presentations to ensure consistency and quality in dishes.
* Safety and Hygiene: Adhere to health and safety regulations, maintaining food safety standards in all kitchen operations.
* Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other kitchen staff to ensure efficient service and timely food delivery.
* Learning and Development: Continuously learn new techniques and skills from experienced chefs to advance your culinary knowledge.
Qualifications:
* Education: Culinary degree or equivalent experience preferred.
* Experience: Previous kitchen experience is a plus but not required.
* Skills: Basic knife skills and knowledge of kitchen equipment; ability to follow directions and work in a fast-paced environment.
