The role
Job Overview
Full time, senior level position. Salary: $118,000-$147,000 + 12% super. Multiple campus locations with WFH arrangements.
The Opportunity
Lead finance, operations and governance to ensure WSUSU's financial sustainability and robust board support.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic and operational leadership across finance, administration, risk and governance for Western Sydney University Student Union.
- Report to the CEO as a trusted adviser on budgets, financial performance, operational priorities and compliance obligations.
- Act as Company Secretary: coordinate Board and committee meetings, prepare agendas and papers, maintain accurate minutes, and ensure statutory registers and records are compliant with legislative requirements.
- Support the Board and student leaders with clear advice on governance and regulatory responsibilities.
- Oversee day-to-day operational and administrative functions, including office management, procurement and facilities.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting; oversee audits; develop policies and frameworks that support effective operations, sound governance and long-term sustainability.

- Accurate, timely financial reporting and sustainable budgets that meet compliance standards.
- Effective Board and committee operations supported by high‐quality secretariat services.
- Clear governance, finance and operational policies aligned with best practice.
- Strong working relationships with student leaders, staff, regulators and university partners.
- Improved understanding of governance and compliance across WSUSU leadership.
Qualifications
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Law or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in financial management, budgeting, reporting and audit oversight.
- Proven experience in corporate governance, statutory compliance and board administration.
- Strong operational management skills across administration, policy and risk frameworks.
- Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills with diverse stakeholders.
- CPA, CA or Governance Institute of Australia membership, or eligibility, is highly desirable.
