**About the role**
The newly created EPMO function shall govern the creation, prioritisation and functioning of programs and projects across the organisation so that the City can do the right things, in the right order, in the right way. The Project Management Specialist is responsible for undertaking activities required for establishing the EPMO's tools, systems, and frameworks. The position shall play a pivotal role in understanding the current state of project management, benefits reporting and governance and develop processes and frameworks to help transition to the future state.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead the development and establishment of project management frameworks and benefits reporting frameworks in line with the best practices.
- Under the guidance of the Manager, create tools and systems to establish an EPMO.
- Undertake the day-to-day management and execution of all project aspects, including communication, risk management, issues management, costs, budget, and quality implementation.
- Develop a deep understanding of the current state, transitional and desired EPMO future state and effectively work to transition across and deliver project implementation.
- Develop project classification process and governance processes tools, frameworks, and methods.
- Using best practices, integrate program management systems to enable an efficient EPMO.
- Develop tools and risk management frameworks to identify and manage project risks and issues effectively.
- Develop and maintain all project reporting and progress and effectively communicate the information to key stakeholders.
**About you**
To be successful in this role, you will have relevant tertiary qualification in project management or other relevant qualification with extensive experience in a similar position with strong working knowledge of Project Management, Prince2 and agile methodologies.
Essential Experience:
- Demonstrated experience conducting project management activities within an EPMO or PMO structure.
- Demonstrated experience in implementing project management frameworks, methodologies, and processes in a large organisation
- Highly developed conceptual, analytical and problem-solving skills in an EPMO environment working with complex and/or challenging internal and external stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to build partnerships with a range of stakeholders at all levels of an organisation to achieve optimal outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and drive project work through completion, often working to strict deadlines with competing priorities and tight budgets.
- Expert capability in report and presentation production and records and information management.
- Demonstrated creativity and autonomy in problem-solving.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills and the ability to liaise with a range of professionals including staff, senior management, Mayor, Councillors and the community.
