As a seasoned Collection Care Specialist, you will play a vital role in ensuring the long-term preservation of a diverse collection. The position involves hands-on conservation work, documentation, and collaboration with curatorial and research teams to ensure the highest standard of museum collection management.
The primary responsibilities include:
* Developing conservation strategies, procedures, and workflows to maintain the integrity of Mona's Collection.
* Collaborating with collections registrars and other teams to evaluate new acquisitions and associated storage and display considerations.
* Conducting research and executing specialized conservation treatments across diverse media.
* Participating in exhibition planning meetings and advising on risk mitigation.
* Liaising with artists, producers, and institutional lenders as required.
* Collaborating with technicians to enact preservation and maintenance tasks.
* Maintaining Conservation documentation and record management.
For this critical role, we are seeking an individual with:
* Tertiary qualification in Cultural Materials Conservation (essential).
* At least 10 years of professional experience in conservation within a museum or similar cultural institution (desirable).
* Specialisation in Object Conservation and experience working with a range of art mediums (highly desirable).
* Excellent problem-solving ability, flexibility, and capacity to work on multiple projects simultaneously (highly desirable).
