Primary objective
Provide high-level recruitment support and advice for the Department of Children and Families, Regional Services Greater Darwin. The
position is responsible for the development and maintenance of recruitment systems and procedures within the region, in line with
Northern Territory Government and Agency policy and legislative requirements.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide advice and assistance to managers, staff, and selection panels on a wide variety of recruitment matters including legislative
interpretation, conditions of employment, relocation, entitlements, merit selection, and recruitment processes.
2. Manage and lead a team, to ensure consistency and compliance with regional, agency and public sector administration and
governance legislation, policy, delegation, and process.
3. Compliance check all recruitment requests, maintain regional organisational charts, assist with bulk recruitment processes, and
provide support to selection panels.
4. Liaise with and provide relevant information to potential recruits.
5. Support the development and maintenance of recruitment policies, procedures, and guidelines.
6. Provide support in relation to workforce development projects, which support the team in the delivery of best practice recruitment
and retention, such as market allowances, sponsorship of overseas employees and other recruitment and retention initiatives.
7. Any other duties as directed by the Business Manager, Greater Darwin Region.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Significant operational recruitment and workforce management consultancy and advisory experience in a complex and diverse
environment.
2. Excellent leadership skills, including the ability to manage all aspects of team management and performance, and a demonstrated
commitment to supporting change initiatives.
1. Working knowledge of and experience in interpreting and applying policy, employment legislation and relevant enterprise
agreements and awards that directly relate to recruitment and retention.
4. Well-developed interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, including high-level report writing, and the ability to consult
with a wide range of individuals, organisations, and service providers.
5. Demonstrated ability to undertake research with analytical and problem-solving skills.
6. Understanding of and commitment to the principles of human resources and equity, with the ability to interact effectively with
people from diverse cultures.
7. High-level organisational skills with proven ability to set priorities, manage workloads, and to meet deadlines in a diverse and high-
volume environment.
8. Ability to work effectively in a self-managed team environment; work under pressure and display sound professional ethics of
confidentiality and discretion.
Desirable
1. High-level computer skills including knowledge in the use of departmental mainframe programs such as PIPS (Personnel Information
and Payroll System) and eRecruit or the ability to obtain.
2. Understanding of the labour market dynamics in the Northern Territory and more broadly, nationally, and internationally, with the
ability to provide timely and appropriate advice.
3. Relevant tertiary qualifications in Human resources or a related field.
