Assistant Parks Coordinator - Lalang-gaddam Marine Parks

Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA) in our West Kimberley District team. As an Assistant Parks Coordinator - Lalang-gaddam Marine Parks, you will play a key role in promoting biodiversity, conserving valuable ecosystems, and providing engaging attractions that connect people with nature.

About the Role

The Kimberley Region is a remote and complex landscape renowned for its natural beauty and cultural significance. We currently have an opportunity for an Assistant Parks Coordinator - Lalang-gaddam Marine Parks to assist with coordinating and implementing the marine works program identified within the Lalang-gaddam Marine Parks Management Plans and Lalang-gaddam marine park Visitor Plan.

Main Responsibilities

* Assist with coordinating and implementing the marine works program identified within the Lalang-gaddam Marine Parks Management Plans and Lalang-gaddam marine park Visitor Plan.
* Assist with Traditional Owner engagement within the marine parks to ensure stakeholder and community involvement in the marine protected area management.

Leadership Expectations

In this role, you will demonstrate Personal Leadership to help drive positive change. You will be required to work collaboratively with your team and stakeholders to achieve shared goals.

Selection Criteria

* Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in marine estate management and knowledge of marine, coastal and island ecology.
* Evidence of well-developed oral communication and interpersonal skills and experience in effective liaison with external organisations, stakeholders and the media.
* Willingness to work with traditional owners to deliver native title aspirations and goals through joint management, cooperation or collaborative arrangements.
* Experience in, and knowledge of administrative and financial management, including project management, budget preparation and expenditure control within financial constraints.
