About This Opportunity
The Venue and Event Operations Manager is responsible for the efficient and effective day-to-day operations of the Mackay Entertainment & Convention Centre (MECC) and associated venues, including BB Print Stadium and Foodspace, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, safe, and professionally managed events. Operating under broad direction, the role leads the development and implementation of operational policies, procedures, and systems that support service excellence, compliance, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading the Venue & Events Operations Section to deliver seamless event execution across MECC, BB Print Stadium, and Foodspace.
- Providing senior leadership and strategic direction to a multidisciplinary team, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and innovation.
- Building a high-performance culture through mentoring and coaching.
- Engaging with internal and external stakeholders to ensure collaborative outcomes.
- Driving strategic planning and continuous improvement initiatives.
Essential Qualifications, Experience & Skills
- Proven senior leadership experience in venue and event operations within a complex, multi-stakeholder environment.
- QLD C Class Driver’s Licence
- Responsible Service of Alcohol
- Responsible Management of Licensed Venues (RMLV)
- Tertiary qualifications in Event Management, Venue Management, Project Management, Business or related field
- Blue Card - It is an essential requirement for this position to hold a Working with Children Blue Card. Under Queensland legislation, you must hold the Blue Card prior to commencing employment – No Card, No Start policy.
