EM Solutions (EMS) is a Brisbane-based growing high tech company with operations across the globe and a world leader in the design and manufacture of "on-the-move" satellite communication terminals.
We have a new exciting opportunity for an experienced Systems Engineer to join our Defence Engineering Team. You'll be responsible for the design, development, integration and verification of complex Defence systems.
Security clearance: Australian Citizen required (ability to obtain NV1 or above)
The role will require you to collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams and Defence stakeholders.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
* Assist with the development of system level and software engineering artefacts and design documentation
* Assist with performing system level analysis activities
* Support system and software integration activities as well as verification and certification activities
* Provide input into design and manufacturing reviews to ensure customer and system specifications are satisfied
* Lead efforts to derive lower-level requirements and their verification, from system level requirements
* Provide support to our Production team through the products life cycle
Core skills and competencies
* Ability to manage multi-discipline projects
* Good knowledge of system engineering principles and requirement management approaches commonly used in Defence projects
* Ability to synthesise system-level requirements and communicate successfully to meet a range of stakeholder expectations, including Defence customers
* Knowledge of system level design, signal processing and satellite link for SATCOM terminal engineering
* Proficiency in scientific and mathematical modelling and tools sufficient to understand and explore how alternate technologies and techniques can be applied to create new products with a sustainable competitive advantage
* Knowledge of ASDEFCON processes would be an advantage
Qualification and Experience
* Tertiary qualification in a relevant engineering discipline
* 3 to 5 years' of relevant engineering experience in complex technical development and integration projects, preferably in the Defence industry
* Experience with using requirement databases such as DOOR or JAMA would be highly regarded
* Experience in hardware or software design, development and testing to support overall system capability
