The Roles The State Solicitor's Office is seeking Legal Assistants and Law Clerks who are skilled at providing direct, high quality, timely and responsive secretarial, administrative and paralegal support for lawyers in various practice teams within the organisation, and have:Administrative or Law Clerk / Paralegal experience, preferably within a legal environment.Good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate both written and orally with a diverse range of people, and on a variety of topics.Demonstrated organisational skills with the ability to manage varying priorities and workloads to achieve deadlines.Legal Assistant:Sound comprehension of grammar, punctuation, and accurate spelling.Demonstrated high standard of word processing and data entry skills.Ability to draft basic legal documents.The ability to interpret and apply legislation, rules, policy, practice, and procedures.Law Clerk:Ability to draft basic legal documents.The ability to interpret and apply legislation, rules, policy, practice, and procedures.Please review the attached Job Description Form (JDF) for further information about the requirements for these positions.

Information about the Talent Register The Talent Register is an online portal that allows you to register your interest for short term contract opportunities (up to a twelve-month contract) with the Legal Support team of the State Solicitors Office.Opportunities are temporary and may be full-time or part-time.For some roles we may be able to make direct appointments which will mean you won't need to go through a full competitive recruitment process, in accordance with the Commissioners Instructions 39 and its conditions.The register is actively monitored, and applicants may be contacted if an opportunity arises suiting their skills and experience.Once you apply, your CV will stay active on the register for a period of 3 months, after which time, you will need to reapply.
It is up to each applicant to ensure their resume includes current information.Please be aware there is no guarantee that an offer of employment will be made while an application remains on the register.Assessment of suitability will be carried out on a needs basis only and applicants will be contacted for an informal interview as required.
