With further expansion projects upcoming as well as sustaining capital projects through **** and **** this newly created role contributes to our continuous growth and forward planning for our PNG projects.
In this role you will be responsible for providing accurate, timely, and comprehensive project performance data to support effective decision-making.
This role ensures the integrity of project planning, scheduling, cost control, and reporting processes throughout the project lifecycle.
By implementing robust controls and monitoring systems, the Project Controls Engineer helps maintain alignment between project objectives, resources, and execution strategies, mitigating risks and optimizing outcomes.Key / Major AccountabilitiesKey accountabilities of this position include.Set up, configure, and operate the Primavera P6 planning system, provide guidance and quality assurance for P6 interfaces established at Portfolio planning and Project levelReview contractor and consultant schedules as submitted and incorporate into the current master scheduleWorking with departmental, construction, project management personnel and contractors to review project execution and construction plans for integration in overall project schedulesActively participate in the Change Management process through the review and analysis of the Scope book, WBS, Work and Procurement packagesAnalyse impacts of unforeseen/unplanned events to the current master scheduleCommunicate potential schedule conflicts or overruns in a timely mannerProvide suggested mitigating actions to relevant stakeholdersProvide schedule reports (Gantt chart, tabular and dashboard, schedule commentary) to the project teamParticipate in review of tender schedulesProvide schedule impact assessment for trends and scope changesOrganise and chair progress meetings/schedule updatesCommunicate minimum standards for progress, schedule forecasting required from construction contractorsSetup, configure and operate the Project Control System, provide guidance and quality assurance for interfaces established with any EPC delivery systems and, K92 systemsLead the preparation, updating and management of all levels and types of cost control reportingInterface with project stakeholders to develop, monitor, control and report project costs and quantitiesImport quantity and deliverable progress data into the Project Control System from the different Kainantu and Contractor sourcesReview major deviations from the budgetConduct cost forecast reviews, budget reviews and cost risk reviewsApply cost control work processes to procurement and contract packagesEstablish and maintain Earned Value Management (EVM) systems.Track KPIs such as cost performance index (CPI) and schedule performance index (SPI).
Prepare, monitor, and maintain project budgets and commitmentsPrepare, monitor, and maintain cash flow plans and forecasts and chartsCoordinate forecast updates by disciplines and contractors, including providing trend analyses and corresponding risk analysisReview the Project Expenditure Request (PER) preparation as per the Project Expenditure Request ProcedureMonitor commitments and ensuring that no commitments are made to the Project that exceed the current budget or approved PER level without written approval by the Project ManagerCost impact assessments that support package forecasting and the trend processProduce accurate and timely progress reports for stakeholders.Provide variance analysis and explain deviations from plan.Complete earned value and productivity analysis and reportingGenerate timely package cost and manhour forecastsDetermine package incurred costs and accruals for reportingCost control and reporting of Owner's managed costs.Develop and provide training / guidance to junior Projects Team membersContinuously improve the department project controls systemDevelopment/improvement of Power Bi Interface in conjunction with othersAbout YouIdeal applicants will be degree qualified or hold a diploma in Engineering, Construction Management or related area, in addition you will have the following skills and experienceAdditional qualifications in project management are desirableMinimum of 5 years experience in project controls, planning or cost engineeringStrong working knowledge of Primavera P6 and Microsoft ExcelExcellent analytical and communication skills, with focus on accuracy, clarity and outcomesKnowledge of Project Cost Management systemKnowledge of financial reporting systems - Pronto & CMS is desirableLife at K92Our core values — Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, Excellence, and Safety — are central to our operations and fundamental to our success.
