Senior Bookkeeper – Overview
You are an experienced and detail‑oriented Bookkeeper looking for a senior role in a dynamic, growing company. We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Bookkeeper to join our team in Melbourne. Key Responsibilities
* Oversee and manage day‑to‑day bookkeeping functions, including accounts payable and receivable, payroll processing, and bank reconciliations.
* Prepare and lodge BAS, IAS, payroll tax and other statutory financial requirements.
* Assist in the preparation of management reports.
* Process end‑of‑month reconciliations and journal entries.
* Liaise with external accountants.
* Implement and improve financial processes and internal controls.
* Demonstrate proficiency in Xero accounting software for all bookkeeping functions.
Requirements
* Minimum 5 years of bookkeeping experience, preferably in a senior or leadership role.
* Extensive experience in payroll.
* Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
* Strong knowledge of Australian taxation regulations.
* Proficiency in accounting software such as Xero.
* Proficiency in payroll software such as Xero and Employment Hero.
* Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work independently and within a team.
* Effective communication skills and ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
* Certification in bookkeeping, accounting, or a related field (e.g., CPA, CA, or equivalent qualification is desirable but not essential).
