What You\'ll Be Doing
The clinical nurse consultant for the Infectious Diseases team provides expert clinical advice on all matters relating to infectious diseases as reportable under the NSW Public Health Act 2010, in South Eastern Sydney Local Health District.
* Ensures adherence with the communicable diseases control guidelines under the NSW Public Health Act 2010 and the NSW health communicable diseases control guidelines
* Provides leadership within the infectious diseases team as well as in the ongoing development of public health practice both locally and within the state
* Initiates and utilises findings of research in the provision of clinical services
* Contributes to the development and delivery of education programs related to infectious diseases and public health
* Provides high level support to outbreak management
* Identifies, participates and leads on quality improvement and accreditation activities
Clinical Nurse Consultants are employed as Grade 1, 2 or 3 according to the criteria outlined below, and in line with the NSW Public Health System Nurses' and Midwives' (State) Award.

* Current authority to practice as a registered nurse, Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and current NSW drivers license
* Minimum 5 years full time equivalent post graduate qualification experience with at least 3 years full time equivalent experience in the specialty field and in addition a post graduate qualification in the field of practice or such other qualifications or experience deemed appropriate by the public hospital or public health organisation.
* Proven clinical leadership skills and an ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary framework with a demonstrated commitment to excellence in nursing practice.
* Demonstrated effective communication and inter-personal skills across a variety of mediums and knowledge of the practice development framework to clinical practice.
* Demonstrated ability to contribute to strategic and clinical service planning.
* Demonstrated involvement in the development / change of clinical practice underpinned by evidenced based research.
* Proven skills in clinical teaching, the identification of education needs in the clinical area and competency in the use of contemporary information systems.
* Ability to apply clinical expertise in client-centred consultancy with the ability to work independently.
