Principal Water Engineer, Water Infrastructure

Your impact as a Principal Engineer is to provide consultancy services in the Water Infrastructure market across the ANZ region, delivering projects, managing client relationships, and providing technical leadership throughout ANZ. You will support the NSW Water Infrastructure Section and the wider ANZ water group, leading team development, mentoring, and the delivery of large-scale water infrastructure design projects.
Responsibilities
* Deliver consulting services and project delivery in Water Infrastructure across ANZ.
* Manage client relationships, including engaging key clients, conducting go/no‑go assessments, supporting bids and proposals, and negotiating commercial terms.
* Lead technical design and delivery of large-scale water infrastructure projects and strategic consulting initiatives.
* Support the NSW Water Infrastructure Section and the wider ANZ water group in team development, mentoring, and growth.
* Ensure compliance with Jacobs QA/QC procedures, including deliverable reviews and contractual administration.
* Drive safety initiatives and support Jacobs Beyond Zero culture.
* Represent the Water Infrastructure team at industry and thought‑leadership events.
* Facilitate knowledge sharing, coaching, and the development of less senior personnel.
Qualifications
* Extensive knowledge and breadth of water services engineering and design.
* Extensive understanding of safety in design and its application.
* Extensive understanding of multidisciplinary interfaces in water asset design development.
* Extensive knowledge of technical standards for design, construction and maintenance.
* Local area working knowledge and relevant industry experience, particularly within the ANZ region.
* Experience as a technical specialist in water engineering and design.
* Experience developing and leading employees and teams.
* Strong leadership, communication and client‑relationship skills.
* Commitment to safety, flexibility and continuous improvement.
Benefits & Compensation
Location: Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia – NSW Water Infrastructure Section. Salary range: A$110,000.00 – A$170,000.00 per annum.
