The Venue
Located just an hour south of Sydney in the scenic Illawarra region, Novotel Wollongong Northbeach is a contemporary 4.5-star beachside hotel overlooking North Wollongong Beach. The hotel features 209 stylish rooms and suites with stunning ocean and mountain views. Catering to both leisure and business travellers, the hotel offers five dining venues, a pool, fitness centre, and a convenience store. With 15 versatile event spaces and a dedicated event floor, it’s a premier choice for weddings, conferences, and functions—accommodating everything from intimate gatherings to large-scale celebrations of up to 600 guests.
About The Role
Be at the heart of delivering unforgettable guest experiences as our Conference & Events Operations Manager ! Leading a dedicated events team, you’ll be responsible for orchestrating the seamless execution of all banquets and functions by ensuring service excellence, operational efficiency, and attention to detail across every touchpoint. With a passion for hospitality and a strategic mindset, you’ll play a key role in enhancing guest satisfaction, driving revenue, and elevating the hotel’s reputation as a premier destination for events of all kinds.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead our Conference & Events team to deliver exceptional service and guest satisfaction
* Build strong client relationships, addressing specific needs and requests to exceed expectations
* Manage events operations budgets, staffing, and inventory to optimize efficiency and revenue
* Supervise event setups, ensuring accuracy in layout, décor, and technical requirements
* Monitor service quality before, during, and after events, proactively addressing any issues to enhance the guest experience
* Develop and implement operational improvements to streamline processes and elevate service
* Seek opportunities to maximise revenue and drive sales
* Foster a guest-obsessed culture and amazing customer service
* Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations at all times
About You
* You have a background in hotel/hospitality management
* Experience in banquet or event operations, including budgeting, staffing, and compliance regulations
* Strong leadership skills with experience managing and motivating teams in a fast-paced environment
* Excellent communication skills, with a proactive and adaptable approach to guest satisfaction
* Highly organized and detail-oriented with a passion for exceptional event execution
* Thrive under pressure while maintaining high service standards
* Hold current RSA qualification
* Thorough knowledge of WHS legislation and hazard identification
