The Jabalbina Yalanji Aboriginal Corporation (Jabalbina) administers native title rights, Aboriginal freehold land and Indigenous Land Use Agreements on behalf of the Eastern Kuku Yalanji People.
Jabalbina is seeking to recruit a cook to support a farm traineeship program during a 6-month fixed term with the possibility of extending.
Your new Role
Based at a rural property in Upper Daintree, you will be responsible for providing wholesome and nutritious meals for trainees and staff (approx 10 in total).
Some of your duties include:
Set up, plan and maintain a functional kitchen environment.
Plan and cook meals for trainees and staff on Monday – Friday.
Plan and prepare meals ready to be assembled and served by centre staff on weekend days.
Control stock and consumables for meals including coordination of accounts with suppliers.
Maintain a clean and hygienic food preparation area and comply with food safety regulations as per licensing and permit regulations.
Stock control/rotation, labelling open food.
Manage costs in line with budget.
About the Program
The program delivers full-time traineeships for six young people at a time aged 14 to 17, who will be supported to develop essential life skills and strengthen cultural reconnection.
