As Executive Director, you will shape the next phase of the Institute’s development, delivering cross-disciplinary research programs aligned with NIER’s themes: Powering the Future, Next Generation Resources, and Environmental Sustainability & Security. This will achieve large-scale impact through targeted research and policy-influencing initiatives for regions locally, nationally, and internationally. You will lead the Institute’s strategic growth, focusing on expanding research funding and delivering outcomes that align with the University and external partner priorities.
Responsibilities
* Lead strategic growth and secure funding to deliver Institute objectives.
* Develop and oversee cross-disciplinary research programs aligned with NIER themes.
* Establish and maintain productive relationships with industry, community, and academic partners.
Qualifications
* Relevant postgraduate qualifications with established excellence in a professional field; or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through education, training and/or experience.
* Proven leadership capabilities, including leading high-performing teams and managing budgets and financial operations to drive sustainable outcomes.
* Expertise in strategy development with a strong track record of delivering results aligned with vision and objectives.
* Proven ability to build and maintain productive relationships with industry, community, and academic partners, supported by comprehensive experience working with industry and established networks.

Term and remuneration
The successful candidate will be offered a 5-year fixed-term position on a full-time basis with a competitive remuneration package commensurate with the responsibilities of the position and the candidate's relevant experience and qualifications.
