About the opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Broken Hill University Department of Rural Health (BHUDRH) a key clinical school committed to improving health outcomes in some of NSW's most unique and remote communities.

With campuses in Broken Hill, Bourke, and Wentworth, and placement sites across more than 10 rural and remote locations, BHUDRH supports high-quality clinical placements for students in medicine, nursing, allied health, and social work. Our work is guided by the principles of "One school, three campuses, many communities and First Nations peoples."

As an Education Support Officer, you will play a vital role in the coordination and administration of student placement processes, supporting both academic staff and students to ensure smooth, efficient and well supported placement experience. This includes managing placement systems, maintaining key documentation, coordinating communication with internal and external stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with university and placement site requirements.

You'll also contribute to the broader educational and operational support needs of the Faculty of Medicine and Health, helping to ensure that teaching and curriculum delivery is well organised, student-focused, and aligned with the University's high standards.

This role offers the chance to work in a region rich in cultural diversity, with opportunities to support initiatives that focus on First Nations health, workforce development, and community-based healthcare.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

* provide day-to-day administrative support to academic and teaching staff
* coordinating the administration of student placement processes in collaboration with academic staff, university partners, and external health services, ensuring compliance with University and clinical site requirements
* maintaining accurate records and documentation related to student placements, including system data entry, confirmation letters, and compliance tracking
* liaising with internal and external stakeholders to support the timely coordination and communication of placement schedules, site requirements, and student information.
* providing administrative support to academic and teaching staff, including assistance with policy interpretation and procedural guidance
* collaborate on continuous improvement initiatives and health and safety processes
* support program evaluation and the implementation of feedback-based improvements.

You'll work under broad supervision, using your initiative to manage and prioritise tasks, resolve routine issues, and contribute to broader project work across the unit.

About you

* demonstrated client focus with strong stakeholder engagement capability to enable the delivery of successful outcomes
* effective and tactful communication skills (both verbal and written) together with strong problem solving skills and the ability to use initiative and exercise sound judgement, along with the ability to prioritise workload during busy periods
* superior computer skills, including database maintenance, experience with Microsoft Office essential
* strong levels of accuracy and attention to detail when managing data entry, student records, compliance documentation, and the preparation of teaching and placement materials
* highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders including internal and external customers and suppliers, and University students
* Holds a valid drivers license.
