Are you passionate about the art of wine and dedicated to providing an exceptional dining experience? We are currently seeking a knowledgeable Sommelier to join our team at SK Steak and Oyster.
Based within The Calile Hotel on James Street, this breathtaking restaurant provides a world class dining experience. Our exceptional modern Australian menu and signature cocktails paired with our upbeat and elegant, yet relaxing atmosphere provides the perfect space for our guests as well as our team members. You will receive extensive training on techniques and our wine list. This is a very vibrant, busy venue so a sound foundation is essential.
This role reports to the Group Beverage Director.
Responsibilities
* Provide guidance to guests on wine selection, based on their preferences, meal choices, and budget, ensuring a memorable and personalised service.
* Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of the latest wine offerings, regions and production technique.
* Assist with wine inventory management, including stock rotation and storage organisation.
* Complete regular stocktake and assist with wine ordering for the venue.
* Updating the wine list in coordination with the Group Beverage Director.
Requirements
* Demonstrated experience as a Sommelier in a fine dining restaurant.
* Full working rights in Australia.
* Knowledge of wine regions, vintages and production methods.
* Strong understanding of food and wine pairing principles.
* Excellent presentation, communication and interpersonal skills with a passion for delivering exceptional customer service.
* Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment, under pressure, with professionalism.
* RSA certificate.
* WSET certification or similar is preferred.
