Role Summary
Infrastructure Engineers are responsible for implementing, managing, and supporting infrastructure environments (physical, virtual, network, and cloud) that enable critical digital services. This role focuses on Linux/UNIX system administration, ensuring high availability, security, and performance of mission-critical systems.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
* Manage, administer, and maintain midrange UNIX/Linux infrastructure
* Ensure continuous availability (24/7) of critical systems and services
* Provide business-as-usual (BAU) infrastructure support
* Perform incident response, troubleshooting, and problem management
* Analyse and resolve complex technical issues across infrastructure layers
* Provide technical guidance and support to internal teams and stakeholders
* Mentor and support junior infrastructure engineers
* Ensure compliance with Essential Eight (E8) and security best practices
* Participate in on-call rotations and after-hours support when required
Technical Skills & Experience
* Strong experience in Linux/UNIX system administration
* Experience managing infrastructure environments (on-premise and cloud)
* Knowledge of security, monitoring, and compliance frameworks
* Proven ability in troubleshooting and root cause analysis
* Experience in incident and problem management processes
* Familiarity with ITIL or service management frameworks
Desirable Skills
* Experience working in Australian Government or secure environments
* Understanding of Essential Eight (E8) security framework
* Exposure to automation, scripting, or DevOps tools
* Experience in team collaboration and mentoring.
