We are looking for passionate Systems Engineers ready to solve the world's most complex technical challenges through innovative cloud computing solutions. The ideal candidate will combine technical expertise with strong development abilities to drive innovation and operational excellence when designing, implementing, and maintaining solutions across Route 53.
Amazon Route 53 is a highly available and scalable Domain Name System (DNS) service offered by Amazon Web Services. It operates in over 50 locations worldwide and provides advanced functionality such as latency-based routing, private DNS, Geo DNS routing, DNS failover, and integration with a number of AWS services. It also offers fast change propagation with a 100% availability SLA. We are building some of the largest and most complex distributed systems in the world, and we need adaptable people to help us implement and operate them.
This position can be based at our Melbourne or Sydney office locations.
Key Job Responsibilities
* Drive continuous improvement from disparate data through tooling and automation.
* Drive root cause analyses, in collaboration with software development teams, as well as influencing local development to improve operational performance.
* Work in an environment where operational excellence is truly the first priority, and where the degree of automation is above bar.
* Use data, feedback, and subject matter expertise to measure and improve mechanisms.
* Automate processes whenever possible to enable scalability and reduce manual effort.
* Leverage technical acumen to drive the team's strategic decisions and direction.
Holds or is able to attain an Australian Government Security Vetting Agency clearance.
A day in the life: It's always Day 1 at Amazon. On a typical day, a Route 53 Systems Development Engineer drives the technical direction for the team, leads projects, and works to ensure less tenured engineers are set up for success. The most exciting part of this role is seeing the team build and deliver the latest Route 53 features and software releases for our customers.
Basic Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related field, or equivalent experience.
* Experience in automating, deploying, and supporting large-scale infrastructure.
* Knowledge of TCP/IP networks.
* Experience scripting with Python, Perl, Bash or PowerShell.
* Experience in Linux OS and network troubleshooting.
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience in Network protocols like DNS/DHCP/TCP, or experience in Database like NoSQL.
* Knowledge of AWS or cloud computing.
* Experience in automation and programming.
* Passion for operational excellence and continuous improvement.
