A rapidly scaling construction group with multiple operating entities is seeking a Group Accountant with strong operational discipline, analytical depth, and a passion for building financial structure in a high growth environment. This role is ideal for someone who can move seamlessly between hands on transactional work and high level forecasting, planning, and control.
About the Role
This position begins as a hands on, operational finance role, taking ownership of the day to day financial engine while establishing the systems and processes needed for scale. As the group continues its expansion, the role will evolve into a management, planning, and financial control position with increasing influence over forecasting, performance management, and strategic decision making.
You’ll work closely with the General Manager to manage growth, improve financial visibility, and embed accountability across all business units. Your analytical capability will be central to improving project performance, cashflow stability, and margin outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and develop a small finance team, ensuring accuracy, accountability, and operational efficiency.
* Partner with the General Manager to drive financial discipline, operational visibility, and commercial decision making.
* Own all transactional finance functions initially, ensuring clean data, reliable reporting, and strong financial controls.
* Build and refine financial systems, processes, and reporting frameworks to support multi entity growth.
* Oversee project accounting including WIP, cost to complete, project cashflow, and margin analysis.
* Deliver detailed forecasting models, including cashflow projections, project performance forecasts, and scenario planning.
* Manage consolidated reporting across multiple entities, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely insights.
* Prepare high quality board level reporting, including variance analysis, trend analysis, and forward looking commentary.
* Oversee stock and inventory management processes, ensuring accurate valuation and operational alignment.
* Provide analytical support to operational leaders, improving cost control, project performance, and commercial outcomes.
Skills & Experience
* Proven experience in the construction industry, ideally in a multi entity environment.
* Strong operational finance capability with hands on experience in transactional processes and financial control.
* Deep analytical skills with demonstrated experience in forecasting, budgeting, cashflow modelling, and scenario analysis.
* Strong technical knowledge of project accounting, WIP, cost to complete, and margin analysis.
* Experience preparing board level reports and presenting insights to senior leadership.
* Demonstrated ability to build or overhaul financial systems and reporting frameworks.
* High attention to detail, strong problem solving capability, and a proactive, commercially minded approach.
