About the Role
Northam Hyundai – Valley Ford is a well-established automotive dealership in Northam, Western Australia. The dealership offers Hyundai passenger and light commercial vehicles, servicing, genuine parts and accessories. The client is seeking to add a qualified Motor Mechanic to support its busy workshop operations and maintain a high standard of service.
Responsibilities
* Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in passenger and light commercial vehicles.
* Perform scheduled servicing including oil changes, lubrication, filters and engine tune-ups.
* Dismantle engines, transmissions and steering systems to inspect internal components.
* Repair or replace worn and defective mechanical parts using workshop tools and equipment.
* Reassemble engines and vehicle components following manufacturer specifications and service manuals.
* Test and adjust mechanical systems to ensure safe and efficient vehicle performance.
* Utilise computer diagnostic equipment to identify vehicle faults and system errors.
* Conduct brake, suspension and steering system inspections and repairs.
* Carry out routine vehicle maintenance to ensure compliance with safety and emission standards.
* Inspect vehicles and identify additional repair or maintenance requirements for customers.
* Assist with maintaining workshop cleanliness, safety procedures and proper equipment use.
* Record service information, diagnostic results and repair work accurately in workshop systems.
* Collaborate with service advisors to explain vehicle issues and required repairs.
* Ensure all repairs are completed to manufacturer and dealership quality standards.
Qualifications
* Relevant AQF Certificate III or Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Technology, or equivalent recognised automotive trade qualification.
* Minimum one year of full-time post-qualification work experience as a Motor Mechanic in a professional automotive workshop.
* Experience diagnosing, servicing and repairing petrol engines and mechanical systems in light vehicles.
* Knowledge of vehicle servicing procedures, including engines, transmissions, suspension, steering and braking systems.
* Ability to operate electronic diagnostic equipment and interpret technical manuals and manufacturer repair specifications.
* Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding ability with the capability to implement effective mechanical repair solutions.
* High attention to detail and commitment to safety, quality and workmanship standards.
* Valid Australian driver licence and ability to work effectively within a busy automotive workshop environment.
