Contract / Commercial / Regulatory Melbourne Contract Bring order, structure and discipline to a challenged data environment Coach teams on why data is important, not just what to do Build sustainable, practical improvements where clean solutions don't exist Billing Manager - Property, Metering & Customer Information Contract Melbourne (Hybrid) Initial 3-6 Months - (potential extension to June 2027) Must have working rights One of my clients who is a large, regulated service organisation is seeking an experienced Manager – Property, Metering & Customer Information to stabilise and uplift the data foundations that everything else depends on. This is a hands‑on leadership role suited to someone who has worked in complex, fragmented billing environments and understands how poor data quality directly impacts billing accuracy, customer trust and regulatory compliance. You will be: a hands-on, data-obsessed leader focused on fixing poor data quality across property, metering and customer information, in a sensitive environment where legacy systems, manual workarounds and fragmented ownership have created ongoing downstream issues for billing, customers and operations. When property, meter and customer data is wrong, everything downstream breaks so this role is to: Bring order, structure and discipline to a challenged data environment Coach teams on why data is important, not just what to do Build sustainable, practical improvements where no clean solution currently exists This is an exciting contract role suited to someone who can step into complexity quickly, lead with influence, and take teams on a journey. What you’ll be responsible for: Leading teams responsible for property data, metering data, including faulty meters, GIS/location data and customer metadata Establish and own data quality standards and designing practical controls and workarounds to stabilise broken processes Coaching teams to understand why data is being asked for and how it is used downstream Lifting data quality maturity across a business with many dependent teams Influencing outcomes Applying lean / continuous improvement thinking to simplify heavily manual processes Creating a culture where data accuracy is respected, not worked around Partner with digital, technology, risk and operations teams to uplift billing outcomes What we’re looking for A structured, detail‑oriented leader who believes data quality is non‑negotiable Deep experience working where data is poor, fragmented or unreliable Background in billing environments, utilities, water, energy or telecom strongly preferred Understanding of: Property data / Metering and faulty meters / GIS coordinates and location data / Customer journeys and metadata Comfortable working without perfect systems or reporting Able to coach others through complexity Lean / Six Sigma mindset, streamline, simplify, reduce manual effort Calm operator who can create order without over engineering Please apply immediately if you have the relevant skills - cover letter not required.
