Based in Melbourne and reporting to the Publishing Director, this role offers a fantastic opportunity for a talented editor to develop their editorial and publishing skills working with some of the most exciting and distinctive talent as part of a dynamic and growing team.
The Role
The Senior Editor will bring best-in-class publishing to market on time and to budget, with core duties to include proactive project management from manuscript to finished copy, creative development and editing (including structural and line-editing), evaluating submissions, preparing acquisition P&Ls, copywriting and metadata management as well as liaising with authors, agents and freelancers.
Outside your project editor tasks, you will read and report on submissions and contribute to brainstorms and the discussion of new acquisitions.
The Candidate Profile:
A Senior Editor must be a passionate reader across a wide variety of genres. You will be a motivated, committed, creative, flexible individual with excellent editorial skills, a forensic eye for detail, and demonstrable experience of taking multiple titles through the full editorial process.
We are a small team, so you will be happy to pitch in, and you will have strong communication, project management, organisational and time management skills. You will thrive in a fast-paced environment and be able to adapt to the demands of managing multiple schedules.
Previous experience within the book and entertainment industries would be an advantage, as would experience of working within an editorial environment; however, we are keen to hear from the widest range of candidates and we're open to different types of experience.
This is a full-time permanent role, with a flexible working arrangement including working from home and in the S&S office in Melbourne.
