The role

About The Role

In this role, you will lead the planning, delivery, and governance of complex projects within the City's Asset and Customer Enablement (ACE) digital transformation program. You will manage project resources, schedules, budgets, and financial performance while ensuring compliance with stage gate quality standards and Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) controls. You will proactively identify and manage project risks, issues, and change requests to drive successful project outcomes. Working closely with stakeholders, you will ensure project deliverables align with ACE program objectives and contribute to the City's broader strategic and organisational goals.

Fixed term, full time for 2 years.

Classification

SPL, $148,599 + super.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the planning, delivery and closure of ICT projects within the ACE Program.
  • Provide guidance and support to the project team, communicate the project vision and outcomes and support the team in achieving the project outcomes in a timely manner.
  • Provide indirect leadership across cross-functional teams, fostering collaboration, accountability, and alignment with ACE program priorities.
  • Lead the planning and delivery of a wide range of information gathering and stakeholder consultation to specify, negotiate and agree on project deliverables.
  • Support the project governance and delivery of projects using the standard tools and templates and ensure intended outcomes are identified and achieved.
  • Ensure project governance aligns with ACE program standards and contributes to overall program reporting and performance metrics.
  • Maintain effective project working relationship with various internal and external stakeholders (including contractors), and may need to undertake negotiation of bids.
  • Document and manage requirements throughout the life of the project using the standard framework, tools and templates and coordinate the verification of the end deliverable.
  • Identify and evaluate risks, issues, dependencies and constraints at the project level, identify solutions and elevate the issues to the Program Manager and Sponsor.
  • Prepare project review reports and presentations to support the review process and benefit capture.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have an Information Technology, Business or relevant tertiary qualification and a relevant professional project management certification (Prince2 or equivalent).

Essential Experience

  • Extensive experience working in a project delivery environment with a demonstrated track record of successful delivery of complex business and IT projects.
  • Strong understanding and experience in the implementation of, or working with modern ERP (e.g. CRM, Asset, etc.), or similarly related enterprise business systems, and technology platforms.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and the ability to professionally present complex information to a range of audiences.
  • Ability to steer through ambiguous and complex situations.
  • Highly developed conceptual, analytical and problem‐solving skills in an ICT environment working with complex and/or challenging internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to build partnerships with a range of stakeholders at all levels of an organisation to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Effective people leadership and management skills to support an environment for high‐functioning, productive and engaged teams to operate.
  • Experience in project management methodologies (i.e. Waterfall, Agile/Scrum, or hybrid models) with a strong understanding of change management principles and practices.

Preferred candidates

Preferred candidates will be required to undergo a National Police Check and a Working with Children's Check as part of the recruitment process (funded by the City).
