Job Description
We are seeking a Senior Development Planner with at least 3 years' experience in statutory and/or strategic planning to join our Development Services team. You will manage a range of complex development proposals, including Local Structure Plans, subdivisions and major development applications, to achieve great outcomes for our Shire, and share your expertise and enthusiasm to help develop our team's capabilities.
You will also develop innovative strategies and policies to help deliver strategic projects:
* Review of the Shire's Local Heritage Survey
* Administering and review of the Shire's Developer Contribution Plan
* Strategic involvement in the Shire's Integrated Growth Framework and Place Planning
* Assessment of complex development applications, including Joint Development Assessment Panel items

* Base annual salary from $85,489 – $95,481 per annum depending on skills, experience, and qualifications

Qualifications
* Behaviour that positively demonstrates the Shire's HEART of: Honesty, Empathy, Accountability, Respect and Teamwork
* Bachelor of Arts in Urban & Regional Planning, or relevant equivalent
* Previous planning experience in statutory process examining and processing subdivision and development applications, structure plans and town planning scheme amendments in relation to urban and rural land use issues.
* Strong research and evaluation skills
* Strong report writing skills
* Exposure to multidisciplinary environments of building construction, public health, environmental management and engineering related to the local government planning process
* Working knowledge of town planning legislation and other relevant legislation
* C Class Driver's Licence
Experience in the application of WA planning legislation and local government processes will be highly regarded.
