About the Role
Kinaway is inviting Expressions of Interest for the role of Chief Executive Officer, commencing in early 2026 as part of a planned leadership transition.
The CEO will:
* Deliver Kinaway’s strategic priorities with measurable outcomes
* Strengthen financial and operational sustainability
* Create and maintain a culturally respectful and safe workplace while ensuring accountability and performance across the organisation
* Build strong and trusted relationships with government, corporate, and community stakeholders
* Maintain Kinaway’s credibility and influence as the peak body for Aboriginal businesses in Victoria
This is a full-time senior executive role based in Melbourne, reporting directly to the Kinaway Board.
Designated Position
This position is designated for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people under section 12 of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010 (Vic).

This position is not open to current business owners.
Applicants must not own, operate, or have a controlling interest in any business.
This is to avoid actual or perceived conflicts of interest.
What We Are Looking For
* Proven ability to build and maintain senior government relationships and to shape or influence policy outcomes
* Demonstrated success in securing government and partner funding to support organisational priorities
* Strong experience in leading organisations and teams with integrity and accountability
* Well-developed financial and operational management skills
* Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively across diverse stakeholders
* A leadership approach that upholds cultural respect and safety while ensuring consistent and fair staff performance management
* An understanding of the issues facing Aboriginal businesses and a commitment to advancing their interests
* Independence from direct ownership of an Aboriginal business to ensure impartiality and avoid conflicts of interest
