Heavy Vehicle Mechanic
Maintain the fleet of specialized trucks at Melbourne Airport.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the vehicles are well maintained to a road worthy standard and repairs or parts are identified and completed in an efficient and safe manner.
1. Inspect vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and ensure they are working safely and properly.
2. Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, and other important parts.
3. Troubleshoot fuel, ignition, and emissions control systems using electronic diagnostics.
4. Tune engines to ensure proper and efficient functioning.
5. Repair or replace defective parts.
6. Prioritize routine maintenance tasks.
7. Install or repair air conditioners and service components such as compressors, condensers, and controls.
8. Manage spare parts and update the vehicle maintenance system.
9. Coordinate services and repairs with contractors/service providers.
10. Be available after hours to respond to breakdowns.
The key requirements for this role include:
1. Demonstrated success in a similar role, preferably on diesel vehicles.
2. Mechanical trade qualifications.
3. A heavy rigid license, or the ability to obtain one.
4. Proven diagnostic skills.
5. Knowledge of electrical and PLC's (Programmable Logic Controller).
6. Good written and verbal communication skills, and computer proficiency in MS Excel and Word.
7. A willingness to work flexible shifts and overtime as needed.
8. A valid police check clearance is mandatory due to working in the Aviation industry.
