About the Program

Our School Services Team works across headspace Dandenong and headspace Hastings to support young people in Victorian government secondary schools. Through the Enhanced Mental Health Support in Schools (EMHSS) program, clinicians provide early intervention, evidence-based mental health support to young people from Years 7–12.

The team delivers a combination of in-person, school-based and telehealth services, ensuring support is accessible, safe and empowering for every young person we walk alongside.

Your role, your impact

As a headspace EMHSS Clinician, you'll be part of a service making a real difference in the lives of young people navigating mild to moderate mental health challenges. Your work helps create safer, healthier learning environments and supports students, families, schools and communities toward better wellbeing outcomes.

You will:

* Deliver evidence‑based short- to medium‑term interventions for young people experiencing a range of mental health and psychosocial needs
* Complete biopsychosocial assessments using tools such as HEADSS, MSE and risk assessments
* Coordinate care and collaborate with families, schools, support networks and external agencies
* Equip schools with resources and tools that build positive, mentally healthy learning environments
* Provide early intervention support to reduce the likelihood of future mental health concerns
* Maintain high-quality documentation and clinical governance
* Participate in supervision, clinical review, and team development to support best practice

This is your opportunity to support young people during pivotal moments in their development—helping them feel seen, heard and supported, now and into the future.

Who we're looking for

You're someone who cares deeply about creating safe, inclusive spaces for young people. You bring warmth, professional curiosity and a collaborative mindset to your work.

You have:

* Previous experience supporting young people with varied mental health presentations
* Relevant tertiary qualification/s and registration (or eligibility for registration) with AHPRA, AASW, PACFA, ACA or relevant professional association
* Skills in counselling, assessment, mediation and care coordination
* Experience working with communities from diverse cultural, linguistic and social backgrounds
* Ability to engage with young people, families and school staff with compassion and confidence
* A valid driver's licence

What will make you stand out

* Postgraduate qualifications in a related field
* Experience delivering mental health support in school settings
* Familiarity with evidence-based interventions for adolescents (e.g. anxiety management, self-esteem programs, group work)
* Experience working in not‑for‑profit or community settings
