An exciting opportunity exists for a Manager Governance to join the council and play a key role as part of the Leadership Team. This pivotal position provides strategic leadership across governance, elected member support, risk management, internal audit, insurance, emergency management, records management and continuous improvement. You will be responsible for ensuring the organisation meets its legislative and regulatory obligations while embedding contemporary governance frameworks and strengthening enterprise-wide risk management practices. The role also oversees Council and Committee operations, policy development, delegations and local government elections, driving a culture focused on accountability, transparency, and high performance.
The successful candidate will be a seasoned and highly capable leader, experienced in navigating complex legislative and political environments. You will bring exceptional stakeholder engagement skills, a strong understanding of the Local Government Act and associated frameworks, and a proven ability to lead and inspire high‐performing teams. With well‐developed political acumen, sound judgement, and a collaborative leadership approach, you will embody integrity and professionalism while contributing to the organisation's strategic direction and delivering meaningful outcomes for the community.
