Ore at Carrapateena is collected from underground mine areas and processed through conventional crushing, grinding and flotation methods.Located 472 kilometres north-west of Adelaide, South Australia, Carrapateena is part of our Minerals Australia operations, within the Copper South Australia province.
The mine is located on the traditional land of the Kokatha people.
Carrapateena produces copper concentrate and is one of the largest mining projects in South Australia in the last decade.Location: Carrapateena, South Australia (60-minute flight from Adelaide / 30-minute flight from Port Augusta)Roster: 8/6 FIFO from Adelaide - Day/Night rotational rosterAbout the RoleCurrently seeking expressions of interest from qualified Mechanical Fitters to work at our Carrapateena operations performing planned, unplanned and or breakdown maintenance activities within our highly skilled underground maintenance team for future positions within our operation as they arise.Reporting to the Mechanical Supervisor - Underground Fixed Plant:In this role you will:Comply to and consistently follow the standards and procedures designed to enable you to work safely and effectively every dayProvide technical expertise within the team to facilitate planned, unplanned and or breakdown maintenance and preventative shut down maintenanceDevelop close working relationships with operations personnel to ensure that all plant downtime issues are escalated correctly and remedied promptlyProvide continual feedback to the maintenance supervisor on job/task progressPerform planned maintenance on fixed plant equipment – conveyors, chutes, crusher, pumps, ventilation fans, refrigeration compressorsRespond to breakdowns and have sound technical knowledge to troubleshootActively contribute to the safety culture by following safe work procedures, working to the BHP set of values: Do what is right, seek better ways and make a differenceContribute to and positively influence an engaged diverse workforce and team cultureAbout YouProven commitment to look after your own wellbeing and the confidence to speak up when others put themselves in harm's wayAustralian recognised Mechanical Trade (Fitter/Mechanic) qualificationsAbility to communicate effectively across multiple levels and functionsPrevious experience working within an operational maintenance environmentExperience working in operational underground mining environment is highly sought after/advantageousExperience with SAP desirableHigh risk license essentialWorking at Heights and Confined Space competencies desirableExpressions of Interest close: 15th June 2025.About Our ProcessAt BHP, we are committed to employing individuals who align with the BHP Charter Values and meet the requirements of the role.
