Who are St Pats?
St Patrick's Community Support Centre Limited (or St Pat's as it is affectionately known) is an award-winning not-for-profit homelessness support service and community housing provider. We have been working side-by-side with vulnerable people in the South Metropolitan region of Perth for more than 50 years. Our mission is to end homelessness in our community.
To achieve our mission, we work in partnership with government and human services agencies, businesses, and the broader community to provide a range of high-quality services delivered to break the cycle of poverty and disadvantage. These include housing, health and dental care, crisis intervention and emergency relief, social inclusion, and specialist support services.
About the role
We are currently seeking a Housing Assistant to join our Housing Services team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with administrative or client facing experience who is interested in building a career in community housing. The role is designed as a traineeship pathway into a Housing Officer position, offering practical, on-the-job training and professional development.
This full time position is based at our Fremantle office, reporting to the Housing Team Leader.
Key Responsibilities
As a Housing Assistant, you will:
Support the Housing Team in day-to-day tenancy and lodging management.
Assist with resident engagement and provide high-quality service to clients.
Undertake administrative duties including tenancy paperwork, reporting, and compliance activities.
Accompany Housing Officers on property inspections and contribute to action planning.
Gain hands-on experience and skills to progress into a Housing Officer role.
About you
We are looking for someone who:
Has at least 1 year’s experience in community housing or social services (administration or client-facing role).
Has strong organisational and record-keeping skills.
Communicates effectively and works well with vulnerable clients.
Demonstrates cultural awareness and the ability to engage with people from diverse backgrounds.
Is a team player who can also work independently when needed.
Is proficient in using Microsoft Office and adaptable to different systems.
