We are seeking passionate and engaging tutors to join our team at the Kip McGrath Education Centre in Belconnen. This is an exciting opportunity for qualified or soon-to-be qualified Primary teachers who bring energy, positivity, and a genuine love of teaching.
At Kip McGrath, we are dedicated to helping students aged 5–15 build strong foundations in literacy and numeracy. Our goal is to support students to catch up, keep up, and reach their full potential—both in school and beyond.
Our unique approach combines one-to-one teaching within small group settings, allowing tutors to deliver explicit instruction, provide targeted feedback, and tailor learning to each student’s individual needs and pace.
Availability
We are looking for tutors who can commit to 1–4 afternoons per week, teaching 2–3 sessions per day between 3:30pm and 7:30pm, Monday to Thursday.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver engaging lessons using the Kip McGrath methodology and curriculum
* Support students in a positive and encouraging manner to build confidence and self-esteem
* Learn and utilise our advanced software to plan and deliver both face-to-face and online lessons
* Maintain consistent attendance and commitment to scheduled classes
* Build strong, professional relationships with students and parents
* Provide high-quality literacy and/or numeracy instruction tailored to individual learning needs
* Monitor and record student progress and goals on a weekly basis
* Communicate student progress through both verbal and written feedback to parents
About You
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
* A degree in Primary/Secondary Education (or be in your final year) and be confident teaching secondary content including for grades 11 and 12.
* A current Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) Card
* A friendly, professional, and approachable manner
* Strong teamwork skills, with the ability to work independently when required
* An enthusiastic and vibrant personality
* Confidence in using technology (own laptop preferred)
* A genuine passion for teaching and learning
* Excellent organisational skills, reliability, and attention to detail
* Willingness to teach both in-centre and online following training
