Ref: 698831 The Department for Setting and Water are seeking a Project Engineer, Levee Recovery (PO2) or a Senior Project Engineer, Levee Recovery (PO3) to assist with the repair of the agricultural levees in the Lower Murray Reclaimed Irrigation Area. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to significant environmental and economic outcomes for the great State of SA and we are looking for people who are passionate about the Environment to help us achieve it. The Lower Murray Reclaimed Irrigation Area (LMRIA) is located between Mannum and Wellington and consists of 27 unique areas protected by 107 kilometres of agricultural levees. During the 2022-23 River Murray Flood event, a number of irrigation areas behind these levees flooded. This project will focus on the intermediate repair of levee embankments. Responsibilities 
The 
Project Engineer, Levee Recovery 
is primarily responsible for ensuring construction of levees are compliant with General Design Specifications for Levee Bank Remediation, maintenance including the assessment of structural integrity of levees along the River Murray. The role will also involve bringing about improvements in the way DEW constructs and operates its infrastructure in accordance with environmental outcomes, and operational requirements. The incumbent will work closely with other business units within the Water Infrastructure and Operations Branch, and DEW more generally to provide advice and deliver projects relating to Water Infrastructure and Operations. The 
Senior Project Engineer 
contributes to the delivery of specialist engineering advice, project development, procurement, implementation and stakeholder negotiation within the Levee Recovery team. The Senior Project Engineer will also provide technical support and mentoring to other members of the team. What we offer

Up to 30 June 2026. Essential Qualifications 
A tertiary qualification in Engineering, Natural Resources, Applied Science or equivalent relevant to natural resources management is essential. Desirable Qualifications 
Post-graduate qualifications in water management or civil engineering are desirable. Special Conditions 
May be required to participate in fire management and associated duties. A current class “C" driver's licence, willingness, and ability to safely operate a 4wd is essential. Some out of hours work may be required as part of the position. May be required to undertake intra or interstate travel and work outside of the normal hours of work.
