Job Title: Chief Financial Officer
About the Role:
The Chief Financial Officer plays a pivotal role in steering our financial sustainability, governance, and enterprise strategy across our hybrid operating model. This executive position leads our financial operations across both not-for-profit and commercial portfolios, ensuring strategic oversight, compliance, and performance.
Key Accountabilities:
* Strategic Financial Leadership: Translate organisational goals into financial strategies and drive sustainable growth across for-profit and not-for-profit streams.
* Governance and Compliance: Ensure audit readiness, tax compliance, statutory reporting, and policy implementation.
* Financial Management & Operations: Oversee budgeting, payroll, asset management, procurement frameworks, and fee-for-service business performance.
* Enterprise Risk & Digital Transformation: Lead cyber and financial risk oversight, and support digitisation of financial systems.
* People and Culture Leadership: Manage and mentor a high-performing finance team; support talent development and succession planning.
* Stakeholder Engagement: Represent us in financial forums, build sector partnerships, and engage funders, auditors, and government bodies.
* Senior Management and Culture: Contribute actively to organisational strategy, workplace culture, and sector leadership.
About You:
You are an experienced CFO or senior financial executive with a strong track record in strategic financial planning, compliance and enterprise leadership. You bring deep experience in financial governance, complex reporting environments, and commercial operations—ideally within hybrid models or impact-oriented sectors.
Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree: Accounting, Business Administration or Commerce.
* Qualifications: CPA/CA qualification or equivalent senior experience.
* Experience: Demonstrated success in financial strategy, planning and governance.
* Skills: Proven experience overseeing taxation, statutory compliance, payroll, procurement, fee-for-service models, and audit processes.
* Knowledge: Strong experience with government reporting, grant management, financial acquittals and asset registers.
* Technical skills: Advanced Excel and MYOB proficiency.
* Interpersonal skills: High-level interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills.
* Cultural competency: Demonstrated cultural competency and integrity in leadership.
* Aboriginal community experience: Experience in Aboriginal community-controlled, social enterprise or hybrid models.
* Impact investment knowledge: Knowledge of impact investment, public funding and philanthropic capital.
* Familiarity with trauma-informed practices: Familiarity with Right Fit for Risk or trauma-informed financial practices.
