About the Role
Are you passionate about supporting equity and access in higher education? Curtin University is seeking a Scholarships Advisor, Student Equity to play a key role in improving opportunities for students from diverse backgrounds to thrive at university.
In this role, you'll manage a portfolio of equity-based scholarships from establishment and promotion through to selection, payment, monitoring, and reporting. You will work closely with students from equity backgrounds and would suit someone who is looking to make a real difference and nurture our students towards success. We are seeking a driven, self-starter who will have the initiative to reach out to students and drive them through the scholarships process. You will also have strong stakeholder management skills and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Experience working with individuals from diverse and equity backgrounds is advantageous.
You'll also contribute to key Higher Education Participation and Partnerships Program (HEPPP) initiatives such as the Step Up program and Portfolio Access Schemes, which help remove barriers and expand access to tertiary education.

Full time, fixed term contract until 31 December ****
Based at our vibrant Curtin Bentley campus
$83,283 - $91,103 (G05) per annum, plus 17% superannuation
Your responsibilities will include
Deliver a high-quality, customer-focused advisory service to students, staff, and sponsors on scholarship eligibility, procedures, and obligations.
Manage the full scholarship lifecycle from application processing and selection through to payments, progress monitoring, and reporting.
Coordinate HEPPP-funded initiatives such as Step Up to Curtin and Portfolio Access Schemes, including maintaining the Step Up list of schools.
Oversee Commonwealth Government scholarship programs for Indigenous students and foster strong relationships with schools and communities.
Validate and analyse scholarship data for accurate government reporting and compliance.
Selection Criteria
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage effectively and sensitively with students, staff, and industry professionals from diverse backgrounds.
Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work as a team and work independently, taking initiative when needed.
High level management and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise multiple complex tasks and meet deadlines under pressure.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel (including formula creation), preferably with experience in database management and processing high volumes of data accurately.
Demonstrated understanding of the challenges and barriers faced by individuals from low socioeconomic backgrounds and other equity groups.
Previous experience working in a tertiary education environment (desired).
Role Requirements
As this is a fixed-term contract, you will require current work rights in Australia that match the tenure of this role.
Successful applicants are subject to a National Police Clearance, and background, integrity, and reference checks to Curtin's satisfaction.
