About the Role
An exciting opportunity exists for a Senior Radiation Oncology Medical Physicist to join Icon Group based in Sydney, New South Wales. This role will provide essential support to our radiotherapy practices ensuring the highest standards of patient care. You will be a key member of Icon's broad network of medical physicists supporting innovation through hardware and software at Icon radiation oncology sites nationwide.
Alongside supporting the medical physics operational requirements of our Icon Cancer Centre sites in Sydney, this position will also play a pivotal role in establishing Australia's first comprehensive stereotactic Centre of Excellence at Macquarie University Health. The Icon and MUH service will become the only centre in Australia to house all three leading precision‐radiation technologies in one location: Gamma Knife, CyberKnife, and a linear accelerator.
Icon Group currently has six Icon Cancer Centres in New South Wales and one in the Australian Capital Territory. The equipment available at these sites includes Varian TrueBeam Linear Accelerators with Varian Identify SGRT, Varian Halcyon Linear Accelerators, and Siemens CT scanners with Varian RGSC. Treatment methods include Varian HyperArc, advanced motion management packages, SGRT based treatments, and an active stereotactic program. Icon Cancer Centres operate in a paperless environment utilising networked Aria oncology management and Eclipse treatment planning systems. We also have a range of modern software to aid in automation and efficiency including Mobius 3D, RadMachine, and AutoContour.
A full suite of Physics QA equipment is also available on‐site and our national Medical Physics team operates utilising online collaborative workspaces such as Microsoft Teams and SharePoint.
The Salary and Professional Development package is under the Integrated Clinical Oncology Network Pty Ltd NSW ACT and QLD Medical Physicists Enterprise Agreement. If deemed suitable, a one‐off relocation package may be available.
About You
We seek a highly motivated individual with a positive and enthusiastic attitude, ready to take on an integral role in the operational management of day‐to‐day physics activities as well as provide technical Medical Physics expertise across our network. You should have a demonstrated ability to thrive in a multidisciplinary environment and contribute to the development and implementation of new technologies. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as is the ability to work independently to achieve high scientific standards.
Essential Criteria
* Eligible for listing on the ACPSEM register of qualified medical physics specialists in Radiation Oncology Medical Physics. Please note, accredited physicists from the UK, USA or Canada are encouraged to apply. Icon Group has an active program to facilitate overseas accredited physicists gaining entry to the ACPSEM register.
* Ability to perform routine physics tasks including but not limited to routine equipment quality assurance, patient specific quality assurance and treatment planning support.
* Proven ability to work independently to a high level of scientific achievement.
* Demonstrated high levels of communication and interpersonal skills in a multidisciplinary team.
* Capable of self‐directed work and possessing excellent problem‐solving skills.
* Evidence of contributing to/participating in in‐house research, education, and development projects.
* Three or more clinical years' experience as a qualified medical physicist in an advanced radiotherapy department.
Desirable Criteria
* Experience with stereotactic treatments on CyberKnife and/or Gamma Knife.
* Experience in small field and stereotactic dosimetry.
* Experience in leading teams and managing resources.
